Who is CBHS Health insurance?
CBHS Health was originally known as The Commonwealth Bank Health Society, set up on 1 January 1951 by the Commonwealth Bank of Australia (CBA) to provide cost effective, quality healthcare. CBHS Corporate Health’s parent company is a nonprofit restricted-membership health fund.
CBHS offers you the flexibility to choose the amount of cover that suits you best, whether it’s an individual policy or family coverage. Member-owned funds invest their profits back into the fund, so they have more capital to spend on creating better health benefits and providing better service to you and your family.
CBHS is exclusively for current and former employees, contractors and franchisees of the Commonwealth Bank Group (CBA Group) and their eligible family members. CBHS offers different levels and tiers of coverage for hospitals and extras to help you find a health insurance plan that suits you best.
Do I really need private health insurance?
Yes. Private health insurance is not only a legal requirement but it also provides you with access to a wider range of services than you would receive through Medicare. Medicare only covers the basic hospital treatment that is deemed necessary by the government, so if you require any other treatment or service that is not listed on their schedule then you will have to pay for it out of your own pocket. If you do not have private health insurance then anything that is not covered by Medicare will have to be paid for in full by yourself or your family members (depending on your circumstances). This can include things such as physiotherapy, dental care and other extras like glasses or hearing aids.
