Who is GMHBA Health Australia?

GMHBA Health Insurance is a not-for-profit health insurance provider in Australia. They have been serving the community since 1934, and with 85 years’ experience, they have become one of Australia’s leading regionally based private health insurers.

A not-for-profit fund means that they don’t focus on making money. Instead, they give back to their members in the form of lower premiums, better benefits and more value for money. They’re owned by the members, who are also their policyholders. The members elect a Board of Directors who make decisions about how they operate — including how much members spend on their cover.

What are my GMHBA cover options?

GMHBA provides a range of cover options for singles, couples, families and seniors. They provide the following levels of cover:

1. Basic Plus Package: Entry level private hospital with exclusions designed for the young and healthy with some common extras paid at a set amount.

2. Bronze Essential: This is a cost-effective private health cover with exclusions plus includes extras cover on a range of common services like dental & optical with benefits paid at a set amount.

3. Silver Plus: The Silver Plus Hospital & Mid Extras is a popular choice for established families seeking coverage for a variety of services with some restrictions to keep expenses down, as well as set benefits for preventative and major dentistry, optical, physiotherapy, and remedial massage.

The level of health cover you choose will depend on many factors, including your budget and personal circumstances. Our experienced team at No Worries have been helping Australians compare health insurance for over ten years. We will help you compare some of the leading health insurance brands in Australia, and your cover can include hospital cover and/or extras cover or a combination of both — it’s entirely up to you. Plus, waiting periods are waived if you are with an existing health fund, as long as you are switching to an equivalent or lower level of cover.

Why should I compare health insurance policies?

Here are some reasons why it is important to compare different health insurance policies before settling on one:

You can find a better deal on premiums by switching providers or adjusting your cover level (and vice versa). You’ll have more choice if you shop around for an individual policy than if you’re taking out a family plan with a single provider – especially if they don’t offer family cover at all! You might also be able to save money by taking out combined hospital and extras cover rather than separate policies for each type of cover (e.g., hospital and extras). Shopping around can help ensure that you get the most appropriate level of cover for your needs. For example, if you’re planning on having children in the near future then go for a combined maternity plus child option as this will give you greater flexibility in terms of premium.
